I get asked, “Can I move my blog to WordPress?”. The answer is “Yes!” And to the relief of so many bloggers…it’s EASY! Wordpress has an “Import” option that allows you to move all of your blog posts from their current host to your new WordPress blog! I did this myself 2 years ago, and it was a breeze…now all of my blog traffic is “my” traffic…not blogger.com’s.
So, the next question becomes, “When is it a good idea to move my blog to WordPress?”. Well, if you have your own domain already, or you are a business owner—as soon as possible! Why? Because you’re losing valuable content that could help your Search Engine rankings! Having your blog on your own domain rather than with a service (such as blogger.com) keeps your readers “in your circle”, and on your site! And all of that content will draw the search engines to YOUR DOMAIN, rather than to someone else’s site and then obscurely to yours.

I tried to make the conversion but found it difficult. I wasn’t able to make it as seamless as I had anticipated. Yes, the import button is beautiful but I hit several snags and had to abort the effort. I am hoping that Blogger upgrades their system to meet the same level of abilities as WordPress.
You have sparked some of my interest and I am going to do some additional research. Feel free to check out some my blog in the near future… as I just posted a great blog about the 36 Best Wordpress plugins for 2009. thanks
